Dreaming beyond the sky - just cycling is better!

Not with every airline and not at all airports the baggage will be scanned for tracking. Baggage tracking is an optional feature, a reason to save money for many airlines. Therefore checked baggage doesn't mean that your baggage is actually on the plane.

Is the bike on the plane? Where can I find it at the baggage claim?

I don't want to cause distrust, but if you have any bad feeling that they didn't load your bike into the plane, you're very welcome to ask the cargo staff or a crew member if they know anything about a loaded bike. Usually they can remember. Hopefully. Many airports have a passenger waiting area with a good view of the plane at the gate. So you can watch the cargo being loaded before boarding. It can happen that your bike doesn't arrive at your destination airport, but it doesn't very often. Different airports use different ways to deliver the bicycle in the baggage claim area. Many airports have an extra area for bulky luggage. Some airports, especially on the mainland of Spain, put the bike on the small conveyor belt. That's not a comfortable position for the bike. Ask the stuff in the arrival hall where and how they bring your bike in. If they use the conveyor belt, wait directly at the wall where it comes into the hall. After you have collected your bike and your luggage move to a quiet place to rebuild your bicycle for road use again. Mount the pedals, turn the handle bar, inflate your tyres... In most airports nobody will feel disturbed by it. But take care of busy cleaning staff if you want to reuse your packing material. They can be very fast and throw it away...
